Hundreds of videos are uploaded every minute to YouTube daily. The amount of people tuning in on their iPads, iPhones and other devices are increase by the second. Not bad from when it first started in 2005. In November 2006, it was bought by Google for $1.65 billion. Here we want to share five ways to get more views on Youtube.
Channel Art
At the top of your channel is a banner. Much like what you find on other social media sites, but with some stark differences.
Your starting point for your YouTube Channel art is the optimal banner image size of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Here you have the ability to include relevant content in the art about the channel. For example, Nerdist News (one of my personal favs) has included it’s branding. It also anchors and time of the week you can expect a new video.
In the lower right are other social media channels you can find them on and a link to their website.
Playlists
Here you can help your viewers to filter out the videos they are and are not interested in. Think of this as categories in a blog. Each one has a particular theme. Creating playlists will help in improving your channels ability to become searchable. No one like to muddle around looking for what they want. If you have tutorials, create a playlist for all your tutorials.
About Tab
Sometimes highly neglected, here you can brag, and tell your history and story. This is like your about page on your companies website. With some specific limitations since it’s YouTube. Here you can describe your channel in detail as well as provide other links and show your channels stats.
Channels Tab
Here you can segment your channel into “categories.” Using Channels you can organize your content and not get your viewers confused. Next select a layout for your channel. So that viewers can browse and find the videos they are looking for by topic.
Call To Action
If you’ve watch the Nerdist News Channel at the end of the videos there is always a “call to action.” They offer a clickable area in the video at the end to get to more content. Or signup to get special offers or view other related videos.
While I love Nerdist News, it may not be the exact model for you to follow. But there is a method out there to engage viewers and keep them watching. The list on how to optimize your channel can be exhaustive. But not if you plan on it, depending on the content you are wanting to broadcast. Remember to plan, shoot, edit and follow these tips to get viewers.
